Simple Present Tense

We speak Simple presnt tense in different ways they are:

• Repeated actions
• Regular and habitual Actions
• Universal Truth
• Newspaper heading
• Fixed future Schedule
• Demonstrations
• Commentaries etc

NOTE

Verb+1 form for Plural subjects Verb+s Form for singular subjects

Positive Statements:-

1. I play cricket every Sunday.
2. We work in an M.N.C.
3. You eat non-veg.
4. They live at Mehdipatnam.
5. Students learn English.
6. Politicians forget their promises etc.

Plural Nouns

• Planets revolve around the sun.
• Monkeys love bananas.
• Some teachers pass time.
• Plants give oxygen.

Simple Present TensNegative Statements:

Subject+Donont/Don’t + Verbs 1 + .....

Examples:-

1	I	Do not	Eat non veg.
2	We	Don’t	Practice English daily.
3	You	Don’t	Work hard.
4	They	Don’t	Play cricket.
5	Students	Don’t	Waste time.
6	Politicians	Don’t	Remember their promises.
7	Elephants	Don’t	Fly.

Yes/No Questions or Auxiliary Questions

Do + Subject + Verb 1 + ……?

Examples:

1	Do	I	Speak	Rashly?
2	Do	Plants	Give	Oxygen?
3	Do	They	Pollute	Water?
4	Do	You	Respect	Women?
5	Do	They	Work	Hard?
6	Do	You	Remember	Promise?

Negative Questions:-

Do/Don’t + Subject + Not + Verb 1 + ……?

Examples:-

• Do you not know English?
• Don’t you know English?

Answering Yes/No Questions:-

1. Do you read newspaper?

• Yes, I read newspaper.

• No I don’t read newspaper.

2. Do they give discount?

• Yes they give discount.

• No, they don’t give discount.

3. Do they pay the rent regularly?

• Yes, they pay the rent regularly.

• No, they don’t pay rent regularly.

4. Do your parents support you?

• Yes, my parents support me.

• No, my parents don’t support me.

5. Do we work hard?

• Yes, we work hard.

• No, we don’t work hard.

6. Do I look handsome?

• Yes, I look handsome.

• No, I don’t look handsome.

2)    Ocean water taste salty.

3)    A Hen lays eggs.

3. It does not give good mileage.

NOTE

News paper headings always in simple present. Future fixed schedule always in simple present . Comentarys and Demonstrations use in simple present.

2)    India wins the match by 2 wicket.

Future Fixed Schedule:- 

1)    Colleges reopen on 20^th of January 2014.
2)    Prime Minister visits Hyderabad tomorrow.
